SOCIETY OF CHRISTIAN PHILOSOPHERS

SCP 45th Anniversary Conference CFP

SCP 45th Anniversary Conference CFP

28 September-1 October, 2023
Calvin University

Founded in 1978 by a handful of philosophers to promote fellowship among Christian philosophers and to stimulate discussion of issues which arise from the intersection of their Christian and philosophical commitments, the Society of Christian Philosophers has since grown to one of the largest professional philosophical associations in North America.

In honor of the 45th anniversary of its founding, and in place of the usual annual divisional conferences, the SCP will be hosting a single conference during 2023. Keynote addresses will be delivered by:

Lara Buchak (Princeton University)
Manuel Vargas (University of California San Diego)
Laura Frances Callahan (University of Notre Dame)

Submissions can be on any philosophical topic, though papers focusing on the issues and challenges facing philosophers who are Christian are especially encouraged. Papers should be no longer than 45 presentation time, or approximately 4000 words (exclusive of notes and bibliography). Submissions should be prepared for anonymous review and emailed to [email protected]. Individuals do not need to be members of the SCP to submit or to be on the program. The deadline for submissions is 30 April 2023.

Registration for the conference will be required for all participants. Online registration will open in summer of 2023.

If you are interested in receiving further email updates about the conference directly, please submit your name and preferred email address here.

The Society of Christian Philosophers and Calvin University are committed to accessibility. Potential participants are more than welcome to email Kevin Timpe to discuss possible accommodations as needed.
